Game information

Retro games are stylish and extremely popular today. The trend for 90s and 80s seems to continue its rise and triumphal walk through the world of pop-culture and the gaming industry is not an exception. As you may remember the old days, there were no such titles that places you on the server where dozens of like-minders were ready to start an immediate competition with you. Now multiplayers can be found anywhere and it is hard to name a shooter that doesn’t use this format as a main or at least additional way to play. The title we are glad to present tries to approach the idea of collective and single shooting titles in a brand new manner.
Here, you will find yourself in a creepy and extremely atmospheric environment that looks like a VHS recording. Such style allows the game developers claim their product to be old-school and metaphoric, while the recorded videos are not something we can control, just watch. The game is considered as a 1-player shooter, however, there is a multiplayer here. Only one problem – it is absolutely empty and there are no people playing there. You can choose one and wait for a while until someone else will also appear. The problem is that even when you will see someone joined the game, you will stay the only active participant here and this will become clear very soon. As you won’t have any rivals to fight with, you will realize that there is the only thing you can do now – discovering different locations on the map. While the entire title follows the retro stylistic, the map is pretty modern and convenient. The contrast feels very interesting.

Do you remember those groovy old video games we used to play as teens? It was so much fun! There weren’t so many games available and getting your hands on a new one was a real triumph. You would put the cassette into your VHS, your hand shaking with excitement, and feel shivers even from the sight of the title appearing on the screen. And then, for a few hours, the whole world would disappear collapsing into the aim of the virtual gun. How about experiencing this once more?

Lost on an empty server…

The hero of No Players Online couldn’t resist it too when he found an old shooter from the 90’s with one of the servers still running. He wanted to get back in his teens again and relive those riveting emotions once more. Imagine his confusion when he didn’t see any other guys in the match! He was all alone. Yet the game somehow began and dropped him on a huge map with undulating hills and empty buildings. Now he is standing amidst all this wondering what this all means. Maybe he should just switch the game off and look for something else to do? No, our hero decides to walk around and check the far corners of the map still hoping to find other players or at least do some virtual sights. He doesn’t expect to see any of what comes next! You can participate in this thrilling adventure together with him. Are you up for it?

Playthrough

At the beginning, things go slow and quiet. It’s better to say they don’t go at all. You just roam the map peeping into the ruins and seeing the same picture – bare walls, empty corridors. Giant open space in front of you. It last for a few minutes and finally you reach the other end of the battlefield where the enemy’s base is located. There you notice a flag that should be captured by your team. Well, since you’re the only team member and there is nobody protecting it, you pull out your hand and grab it. Apparently, this flag is some kind of a trigger that wakes the game up because it starts changing with every minute.

…Or trapped in a haunted game?

You set out on your way back – to win, you must bring the flag to your own camp. And, with growing unease, you notice that things around you are slightly different. These alterations are rather small, but sensible. They affect on the subconscious level before you can even figure out why are you feeling panicky. The lighting goes dimmer and eerier, the ruined buildings look ominous and as you’re returning through the same empty hallways, suspenseful music begins to sound making you throw up your gun in a surge of fright. Later on, things go even more intense. There is a fellow writing you threatening messages in the chat and then logging off. You see visions like a giant eye watching you from the skies and shooting it doesn’t help. You understand this game isn’t that simple, it’s haunted, or it’s a portal to a virtual dimension, or… The options in your head are multiplying, and so are the questions. What is happening? Who is this John typing to you? Are you in trouble? They remain unanswered. The tension is escalating. but you still need to bring the flag to the base to end the match. Hopefully, you’ll be able to do it before things take a critical turn!
